Donaldson dishes on umpires after dirt-kicking incident: 'They don't care at all'

Minnesota Twins third baseman Josh Donaldson had some choice words for Major League Baseball umpires on Saturday after getting ejected on Thursday for kicking dirt on the plate following a home run.

Donaldson kicked dirt on the plate because he was upset with a strike call umpire Dan Bellino made against him before he went deep.

"At the end of the day, there's no reprimand, no accountability for the guys that are making the decisions," Donaldson said on Saturday, according to SKOR North's Judd Zulgad.

"Matter of fact, they don't care, they don't care at all. Most of them. They just want to get the game over with for the most part, and it's pretty sad because guys are making six figures a year, and there's no accountability."

Donaldson said he "felt great" about his decision to kick dirt on home plate and expects to be disciplined by MLB.

"I'm going to wait to see when I get my piece of paper from MLB, and then I'll be as vocal as I want to about the certain individual that this is about," Donaldson explained. "But I'm going to wait until that moment, just to kind of see where it goes."

The 34-year-old added he wasn't "embarrassed" by what he did because poor umpiring calls can be career changers.

"They don't realize that we're playing for our families, we're playing for our livelihoods," Donaldson said. "Fortunately for me, I have a contract but at the same time I want to win and I compete. But for a lot of these guys who do not, the difference between consistently bad calls against one individual can affect their career one way or another."
