Red Sox place All-Star Martinez on COVID-19 IL
The Boston Red Sox added slugger J.D. Martinez to the COVID-19 injured list after he reported to the team he wasn't feeling well.
"He felt sick last night," Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Saturday, according to MassLive's Christopher Smith. "He’s been feeling sick the whole day. He's going to go through testing."
The 33-year-old Martinez is the latest Red Sox player to land on the COVID-19 IL after outfielder Jarren Duran was placed there Friday.
Martinez wouldn't disclose whether or not he'd been vaccinated when asked about it in May.
When J.D. Martinez was asked if he got the vaccine or not, he would not disclose, adding that “it’s something personal” to him. Red Sox have yet to reach 85 percent threshold.

Martinez is having a stellar campaign for the Red Sox, hitting .284/.350/.525 with 21 home runs, 28 doubles, and 68 RBIs in 104 games.
Catcher Connor Wong will replace Martinez on the active roster ahead of Boston's doubleheader Saturday against the Toronto Blue Jays.
