Angels' Nevin frustrated after overturned call: Get rid of replay
Los Angeles Angels manager Phil Nevin isn't happy with the replay review system after an overturned call took a run away from his team Tuesday.
Hunter Renfroe appeared to give the Angels a lead in the fourth inning with a double that scored Brandon Drury with two outs. However, Drury was determined to be tagged by Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Will Smith following a replay review:
"I don't know, but I'm just really confused on how this replay system works," Nevin said postgame, according to Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register. "Just get rid of it. Because the umpires are really good. Let them work the game."
Nevin also questioned whether there was definitive proof to overturn the call on the field.
"Was that one clear and definitive? I don't get it," Nevin said, per Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com. "Did he touch his eyelash? You can't see because the dirt is popped up. We've had a couple like that, which have been baffling to me."
The Angels lost the game 2-0.
