New York Mets star shortstop Francisco Lindor has taken notice of what Juan Soto has done for the New York Yankees this season.

Soto will be one of the biggest free agents in MLB history this offseason, and Lindor is hoping the Mets are serious contenders to sign the superstar outfielder.

"When it comes to the outfielder from across our borough, he's having a fantastic year, and I hope he goes out there and breaks every record out there when it comes to getting paid," Lindor told ESPN's Jeff Passan. "If it's with us, it'll be fantastic. He'll help us a lot."

The Mets are widely expected to be one of the most serious threats to the Yankees keeping Soto in the Bronx.

Soto, 25, is putting together a terrific offensive season for the Yankees after he was acquired from the San Diego Padres last December. He's slashing .296/.427/.600 with a career-high 37 home runs, 108 runs scored, and 95 RBIs across 128 games.
