The Texas Rangers placed shortstop Corey Seager on the 10-day injured list with right hip discomfort, the team announced.

Texas didn't indicate if the injury would be season-ending for Seager.

"Obviously frustrating," Seager said, according to Jeff Wilson of DLLS Sports. "You want to be out there with your guys. We were starting to finally play some good baseball, so it's not the time you want to miss."

Seager couldn't pinpoint when the hip issue began but said "it's been bothering me the last couple weeks."

The 30-year-old All-Star didn't play against the New York Yankees on Tuesday after going 2-for-4 against them during the series opener on Monday.

Seager was in the midst of another stellar campaign for the Rangers, slashing .278/.353/.512 with 30 home runs, 21 doubles, and 74 RBIs in 123 games.

The Rangers selected the contract of outfielder Sandro Fabian and transferred right-hander Jon Gray (right foot injury) from the 15-day IL to the 60-day IL in corresponding moves.
