The Seattle Mariners were officially eliminated from postseason contention after the Kansas City Royals and Detroit Tigers won their games Thursday.
The Mariners held a 10-game lead over the Houston Astros for first place in the American League West in June.

The Astros clinched their fourth consecutive AL West title after defeating the Mariners 4-3 on Tuesday.
The Mariners have made the postseason once (2022) since the 2001 campaign.
Seattle posted a 22-28 record in July and August. Manager Scott Servais was fired Aug. 22.
