The Seattle Mariners agreed to a one-year, $7.75-million deal with veteran infielder Jorge Polanco, a source told The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal.

Polanco's reported pact includes a $750,000 buyout and comes with a vesting player/mutual option for 2026 based on plate appearances.

The 31-year-old is expected to play third base for the Mariners, according to Rosenthal's source. Polanco has played the majority of his defensive reps at shortstop and second base but has 24 games of big-league experience at the hot corner.

The Dominican native spent last season with the Mariners, slashing .213/.296/.355 with 16 home runs and 45 RBIs in 118 games. He does own a career .765 OPS, with 128 home runs and 492 RBIs to his credit.

Polanco underwent knee surgery in October but is expected to be recovered before the regular season begins.

The Houston Astros and New York Yankees also reportedly showed interest in the 11-year MLB veteran this offseason.
