New York Yankees infielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. believes his team will be very strong up the middle in 2025 with him heading back to second base and Anthony Volpe at shortstop.

"I think we could be the best shortstop-second baseman in the league, definitely defensively," Chisholm said, according to Bryan Hoch of MLB.com. "And I think we are probably going to turn the most double plays in the league, too. That would be my prediction for us."

Chisholm returns to second after playing 59 games at third base for the Yankees in the regular season and playoffs last year following a trade with the Miami Marlins. The 27-year-old had made 156 career starts at the keystone position and will create a tandem with Volpe that will attempt to help a New York club that finished 23rd in baseball with 112 double plays.

"It's going to be a superlative anytime Jazz speaks," Yankees manager Aaron Boone said. "But I do think they're capable of really great things, both sides. So, I like his confidence, but we've also got to go back it up."

Volpe added that Chisholm's athleticism and creativity make the latter a great defender.

"He has a cannon," Volpe said. "I think second base is really underrated; you need to have a really good arm to make those turns. His personality helps, too, just how much he wants to communicate, his imagination on plays before they happen. It's all the tools, the all-around package."
