New York Yankees ace Gerrit Cole is making an in-person visit to Dr. Neal ElAttrache in Los Angeles on Monday, manager Aaron Boone confirmed on YES Network.

Cole expressed concern about his pitching elbow Saturday after the 34-year-old experienced discomfort following Thursday's rough Grapefruit League start versus the Minnesota Twins.

"He's obviously back in L.A. meeting with ElAttrache, just kinda getting all the eyes on it, (getting) everyone to weigh in and we'll make the best decision from there," Boone said during Monday's broadcast of the Yankees' spring game against the Detroit Tigers.

The skipper added: "(Injuries) are part of it, unfortunately. Sometimes you lose guys of Gerrit Cole's stature, you've gotta be able to handle it and deal with it, maneuver. It's not a death sentence for us by any means. It's an opportunity for someone else. ... The reality is, Gerrit still has a lot of pitching in front of him in his career and pitching with the Yankees. We want that to be as successful as it's been already.

"Whatever the course of action is, we'll go from there. We were in a similar situation last year where Gerrit went down at this time, and we were able to kinda thrive because other people got opportunities and other people stepped up."

The right-hander visited ElAttrache in March 2024 and was diagnosed with elbow nerve inflammation and edema, which sidelined the 2023 AL Cy Young winner until mid-June.
