The pitch from Keller was a 93-mph fastball. DeJong was bloodied and appeared to have a cut underneath his left eye. He was immediately helped off the field and down the tunnel into the clubhouse by the training staff.
"He got hit pretty solid in the face," Nationals manager Dave Martinez said postgame, according to MLB.com's Jessica Camerato. "Right now, he's getting a CT scan. I don't know much more than that right now. Hopefully, he's OK. I know he started bleeding pretty good there. So we'll see what the results are."
DeJong is in his first season with the Nationals after signing a one-year, $1-million contract in February. The 31-year-old is hitting .204 with a pair of RBIs, two stolen bases, and three runs scored in 54 at-bats.
