Jayne Kamin-Oncea / USA TODAY

On the first Wednesday of every month, theScore's MMA editors compile a list of the top 10 fighters in each of the major weight classes.

Rankings
Heavyweight | Light Heavyweight
Middleweight | Welterweight
Lightweight | Featherweight
Bantamweight | Flyweight
Women: Bantamweight | Strawweight

Ranking Fighter
1 Jon Jones
2 Daniel Cormier

  • The Jon Jones-Daniel Cormier rematch moved closer to becoming a reality with Dana White announcing that it will happen in April. Their roles will be reversed this time around, with Cormier having taken Jones' light heavyweight belt while the ex-champ was serving a conduct-related suspension. The exact date and venue are expected to be announced soon.
  • Anthony Johnson is a terrifying human being. Faced with a highly motivated Ryan Bader, all Johnson did was shut down his opponent's wrestling game and pound him into dust inside of two minutes. The win keeps Johnson in pole position for a big money fight with Jones or a rematch with Cormier.
  • Two steps forward and one step back for Ovince Saint Preux. "OSP" had back-to-back knockouts of Mauricio "Shogun" Rua and Patrick Cummins, only to be stopped in his tracks by a submission via Glover Teixeira. He can avoid a further skid if he overcomes former Strikeforce champion Rafael "Feijao" Cavalcante at UFC Fight Night 82 on Saturday.
  • Don't expect to see veteran Quinton "Rampage" Jackson back in the top 10 anytime soon. The UFC removed Jackson from their official rankings, presumably due to their ongoing legal battle with Bellator MMA over the rights to his services. "Rampage" beat Fabio Maldonado at UFC 186 last April, but his former employers insist that he is currently in breach of his contract.
