Shaq: Knicks should 'keep Porzingis and trade everybody else'

Shaquille O'Neal has some advice for his former coach Phil Jackson: Don't trade Kristaps Porzingis.

Rumors swirled Tuesday that the New York Knicks president is open to moving Porzingis as the front office is reportedly in shambles and using the Latvian big man as a scapegoat.

But Shaq believes that would be the wrong call, and instead offered the following suggestion:

"Keep Porzingis and trade everybody else around him," he told TMZ Sports. "Just try to build around him. This kid has a bright future. He's working out all summer. ... He's getting stronger, he's definitely in the weight room. He's never that guy who you can give up."

The Hall of Fame center, who won three championships with the Los Angeles Lakers under Jackson, is confident Porzingis will blossom into a star and might actually be better off in another situation.

"If you trade him to the right team. Like for example, if you trade him to Cleveland ...," O'Neal said with a whistle.

Fortunately for the Knicks, their greed could bar them from making such a regrettable move, as the club's asking price for Porzingis has been described as too high.

Porzingis put up 18.1 points, 7.2 rebounds, two blocks, and 1.5 assists in his sophomore campaign.
