Bulls agree to 3-year, $60M extension with Vucevic
The Chicago Bulls have agreed to a contract extension with Nikola Vucevic, the team announced Wednesday.
The deal is for three years and $60 million, his agents told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Vucevic was set to become an unrestricted free agent Friday evening.
The Bulls are now $27 million below the luxury tax with Vucevic's new contract, according to ESPN's Bobby Marks.
The veteran center has spent parts of the last three seasons in the Windy City after being acquired from the Orlando Magic in March 2021.
Vucevic has been a double-double machine since joining the Bulls, averaging 18.2 points, 11.1 boards, and 3.3 assists over 181 appearances. His 30.2% defensive rebound percentage was third in the Association last season.
"During his time in Chicago, Nikola has proven that he is a special player both on and off the court," Bulls executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas said in a statement. "He has produced at an elite level since we acquired him and will remain an integral part of our foundation moving forward."
Chicago has many notable free agents this summer, including Coby White, Patrick Beverley, and Ayo Dosunmu.
The Bulls went 40-42 during the 2022-23 campaign and were eliminated by the Miami Heat in the play-in tournament.
