The Los Angeles Clippers are signing guard Kevin Porter Jr. to a two-year deal with a player option in the second season, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.

Porter did not play in the NBA this past season. In October, while still with the Houston Rockets, he was arrested and charged with felony assault and strangulation following a September incident at a New York hotel involving his girlfriend. Houston subsequently traded him to the Oklahoma City Thunder, who then waived the 24-year-old.

In January, Porter reached a plea deal in his case, agreeing to plead guilty to a charge of misdemeanor assault and a harassment violation but avoiding jail time. He was ordered by the court to enroll in an Abusive Partner Intervention Program for 26 weeks, which he is reportedly in the process of completing.

The former first-round pick will be eligible to withdraw his guilty plea by 2025 if he satisfies the conditions of the agreement, effectively clearing his criminal record.

Porter signed with PAOK of the Greek league in April, where he played out the rest of the season.

Porter was drafted 30th overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2019. Cleveland traded him to the Rockets following his rookie season due to an outburst in the Cavaliers' locker room.
