Report: Pacers to acquire Heat's Bryant
The Miami Heat agreed to a trade that will send center Thomas Bryant to the Indiana Pacers for a future second-round pick swap, sources told ESPN's Shams Charania.
Bryant is trade-eligible Sunday after he re-signed with the club over the offseason. In 48 games over two seasons with the Heat, the 27-year-old averaged 5.4 points and 3.6 rebounds.
The Pacers needed another center after losing both James Wiseman and Isaiah Jackson to season-ending Achilles injuries. Indiana ranks ninth in the Eastern Conference with a 10-15 record.
Miami opens a roster spot with the trade, which the team will need to fill in the next two weeks. The Heat will save $4.7 million in luxury-tax payments, according to ESPN's Bobby Marks.
Bryant holds career averages of 9.3 points and 5.4 rebounds over eight seasons. He spent two college seasons at Indiana.
