Report: 76ers, Embiid considering alternate options for knee injury
The Philadelphia 76ers and Joel Embiid are consulting doctors and considering alternative options for the All-Star center's injured knee, sources told ESPN's Shams Charania.
Embiid has battled through the ailment all season, and treatments - including injections - haven't provided any improvement, adds Charania.
The former MVP experienced swelling in his left knee following Saturday's defeat to the Brooklyn Nets, Charania reports.
Embiid's set to undergo tests on his knee early this week and will reportedly work with the team and specialists on a plan going forward based on those results.
Embiid recently stated he'd likely need another knee procedure to recapture his peak form.
The 76ers center underwent surgery for a torn meniscus in his left knee in February 2024. He later participated in the playoffs and summer Olympics in Paris but missed the entire preseason, as well as the first nine games of the 2024-25 campaign.
Embiid's made only 19 appearances this season, averaging 23.8 points on a career-low 44.4% shooting.
Philadelphia has dropped seven straight games and sits 12th in the East with a 20-36 record.
