Exum undergoes surgery to repair left ACL, timetable unknown
Utah Jazz guard Dante Exum underwent surgery on his left ACL Thursday, the team announced.
Exum injured his leg in early August while playing for the Australian national team in a friendly against Slovenia. Thursday's surgery was performed in Los Angeles by Dr. Neal ElAttrache, the Jazz statement said.
ElAttrache is a noted orthopedic surgeon who has operated on the likes of Kobe Bryant, Manny Pacquiao, and Zack Greinke.
There has been no official timetable given since Exum suffered the injury, but a typical ACL tear usually requires at least six months of recuperation. It's been speculated that the 20-year-old could miss the entire upcoming season.
In addition to raising more questions about NBAers playing for their national teams in the offseason, the injury is a tough break for Utah as the Jazz try to crack the top eight in a loaded Western Conference in 2015-16.
