Texas' Sarkisian: No decision yet on starting QB vs. Mississippi State

A decision on Texas' starting quarterback for Saturday's game against Mississippi State won't come until Friday, according to head coach Steve Sarkisian.

"We're going to decide on the quarterback thing tomorrow," Sarkisian said, according to ESPN's Dave Wilson. "It won't be a secret. We're not trying to pull the wool over anybody's eyes. Just want to give (Quinn Ewers) every opportunity to see if he's ready to play and what he looks like."

Ewers missed last Saturday's 51-3 victory over UL Monroe due to an oblique strain. However, he did return to practice. Ewers' absence paved the way for Arch Manning to step up with a 258-yard game that included two touchdowns and two interceptions.

Ewers was deemed questionable to play against Mississippi State.

The Longhorns are ranked No. 1 and their meeting against the Bulldogs on Saturday marks their first SEC game since moving to the conference.
