Here are theScore's first baseman/DH value rankings for the evening slate of games on Saturday, September 3 (all stats exclude Friday's games):

Value Rankings
C | 1B/DH | 2B | SS | 3B | OF | SP

Top Options

NAME OPPOSITION VALUE
Kendrys Morales (KC) vs. DET 8
Freddie Freeman (ATL) at PHI 8
C.J. Cron (LAA) at SEA 8

Morales has a two-run jack in each of his past two games and has collected seven hits overall in his past four. He comes a great price despite the hot streak.

Freeman has a hit in eight straight and an RBI in four straight. Philadelphia SP Vince Velasquez posted a 7.52 ERA and served up eight homers in just 26 1/3 innings during August.

Mid-Tier Targets

NAME OPPOSITION VALUE
Jose Abreu (CWS) at MIN 7
Trevor Ploufee (MIN) vs. CWS 7
Eric Hosmer (KC) vs. DET 6

Abreu continues to atone for his early-season disappointment. He's had multi-hit outings in three of his past four and gone yard in his last two. His numbers have, however, dropped against lefties year.

Ploufee has homered three times in his past seven games, and stands a great chance to do so once against Chicago SP James Shields. Shields' HR/9 of 1.93 ranks second among all starters with at least 100 innings pitched this season.

Nothing to See Here

NAME OPPOSITION VALUE
Wil Myers (SD) at LAD 4
Chris Carter (MIL) at PIT 4
Ryan Howard (PHI) vs. ATL 3

Myers has been a shell of himself post All-Star break. He's hit a meager .208 and posts a 31.3 K percentage.

Carter is much less productive outside of Milwaukee, and draws a tough opponent in Pittsburgh SP Ivan Nova.

Expect Howard to sit in favor of Tommy Joseph.
