On this day in history: The 1st documented boxing match unfolded

On Jan. 6, 1681, the first recorded boxing match took place in England, when Christopher Monck, 2nd Duke of Albemarle, sanctioned a bout between his butler and his butcher.
Although there were no official rules, this fight effectively laid the foundations for boxing as we know it.
