Blue Jays to enforce pregame clubhouse curfew for video games
The Toronto Blue Jays don't want distractions in the clubhouse this season, specifically of the video game variety.
Manager Charlie Montoyo and the Blue Jays are imposing a curfew on video games during the 2019 campaign, according to John Lott of The Athletic.
A specific time hasn't been identified, but there will be a point before games when video games must be shut off in the clubhouse.
Some players suggested there was too much Fortnite last season, Montoyo said. The players initiated the decision during a meeting with the manager this spring, according to Sportsnet's Arash Madani.
Fortnite has recently become something of a hot-button topic across baseball. Cleveland Indians first baseman Carlos Santana smashed a clubhouse television as a member of the Philadelphia Phillies last September out of frustration over his teammates' Fortnite sessions.
Boston Red Sox lefty David Price's Fortnite habits came under scrutiny after he was diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome last May, though he and Red Sox manager Alex Cora refuted suspicions that video games were the cause.
