A silly mistake haunted the New York Jets on Halloween at MetLife Stadium on Thursday.

Rookie wide receiver Malachi Corley - looking for his first NFL touchdown - went untouched on an 18-yard run in the second quarter but dropped the ball before crossing the goal line, costing the Jets a TD on the play and giving the ball back to the Houston Texans as a result of a touchback.

Corley, who entered Thursday's matchup with just one touch in the NFL, didn't touch the ball again versus Houston. New York drafted him in the third round in April.

The Jets' offense had another slow start against the Texans, with quarterback Aaron Rodgers starting the game 0-for-5. New York had seemingly figured things out and marched 68 yards down the field on six plays as part of a promising drive before Corley's fumble.

The blunder ended up not making a huge difference in the final result, though.

Rodgers and Co. eventually put points on the board and claimed a 21-13 victory to improve to 3-6 this season. Rodgers finished the night with three touchdown passes, including two to Garrett Wilson. He also posted his first TD throw to Davante Adams since the wideout's trade to the Jets.
