Raiders announce official move to Las Vegas
The Raiders' move to Nevada is official.
Team owner Mark Davis and Gov. Steve Sisolak announced Wednesday the franchise's relocation from Oakland to Las Vegas.
The announcement took place at Allegiant Stadium. The venue, which is under construction, will host Raiders home games in 2020.
"The Raiders were born in Oakland and played 13 seasons in L.A.," Davis said during Wednesday's press conference. "Both cities will always be part of our DNA. But today, we begin a new chapter in our storied history."
The move was originally approved in March 2017, when NFL owners voted 31-1 supporting the Raiders' relocation to Vegas.
The lack of a viable long-term solution in Oakland helped momentum toward a move build rapidly once the franchise secured significant funding.
