Report: Ronaldo set for Italy return after spending lockdown in Madeira

Cristiano Ronaldo will return to Turin on Monday after spending Italy's lockdown in his native Madeira, sources told ESPN's Adriana Garcia.

Numerous reports indicated the decorated attacker was stranded in the autonomous region of Portugal due to coronavirus restrictions, but it now appears he is cleared to travel and begin Juventus' preparations for the resumption of the 2019-20 season.

Serie A outfits are allowed to train beginning May 18. However, individual workouts can start at club facilities this week.

Ronaldo traveled to Madeira a month ago to visit his mother, who reportedly suffered a stroke. He stayed in his hometown of Funchal with his girlfriend and children.

In March, the 35-year-old and his agent, Jorge Mendes, donated equipment - including heart monitors and 20 beds - to two wards at Lisbon's Santa Maria Hospital and made a financial donation to Porto's Santo Antonio Hospital.
