Texans' O'Brien not fretting about job security amid 0-4 start

The Houston Texans are winless through four weeks, and pressure is mounting on head coach and general manager Bill O'Brien to get the supposed AFC contenders back on track.

While O'Brien knows he has to "do a better job coaching," the 50-year-old said Monday he isn't concerned about his increasingly hot seat.

"All I can control is what I can control, and I've got to do a better job with the team," O'Brien said, per ESPN's Sarah Bishop. "That's obvious. And we're going to work hard to do that."

The Texans have played the Kansas City Chiefs, Baltimore Ravens, and Pittsburgh Steelers through the first three weeks, and those teams are a combined 9-1 this season, with Baltimore's lone defeat coming at the hands of Kansas City.

Sunday's loss to the formerly winless Minnesota Vikings pushed Houston to the brink of disaster. No team has ever made the postseason after starting 0-5, and only one (the 1992 San Diego Chargers) has recovered from four straight losses to start the year.

O'Brien is confident his team's strong core - including defensive end J.J. Watt, quarterback Deshaun Watson, and linebacker Benardrick McKinney - can lead Houston back into the AFC South race.

"Where we are is not good, obviously, but I do think we have good leadership on this team, and we have guys that work hard and they believe in each other," O'Brien said.

"I think they feel like we're close and we just need to get a win. But no, I'm not worried about the morale. I think we have good guys that understand what we have to do to try to dig ourselves out of it."

The Texans host divisional rivals the Jacksonville Jaguars, who sit at 1-3, in Week 5.
