Report: Cavs' Bickerstaff in serious jeopardy of losing job
Cleveland Cavaliers head coach J.B. Bickerstaff is in serious jeopardy of losing his job, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania, Joe Vardon, and Jason Lloyd.
The Cavs will likely take multiple days before making a final decision on his future, Charania, Vardon, and Lloyd add.
Cavs star Donovan Mitchell reportedly hasn't had great confidence in Bickerstaff for months, and multiple players share that sentiment.
Bickerstaff recently guided the Cavs to their first playoff series win since 2018. They were eliminated Wednesday by the top-seeded Boston Celtics in five games in the second round.
Bickerstaff joined Cleveland in May 2019 as an assistant under John Beilein. He took over for Beilein less than a year later after the latter's resignation and was subsequently rewarded with a multi-year contract.
Bickerstaff holds a 170-159 record over parts of five seasons as Cleveland's lead man. The 45-year-old also had previous head coaching stops with the Houston Rockets and Memphis Grizzlies.
