David Carle removed his name from the Chicago Blackhawks' head coaching search, reports Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.
The 35-year-old was reportedly atop Chicago's candidate list.
Carle's a hot name in the coaching ranks. He led the University of Denver to national championships in 2022 and 2024 and a berth in the Frozen Four semifinals in 2025. He also won back-to-back gold medals as the head coach of Team USA at the World Junior Championship in 2024 and 2025.
The Blackhawks are one of six NHL teams without a full-time head coach. Anders Sorensen was named interim bench boss in January following Luke Richardson's dismissal.
It's unclear if Carle is intent on returning to Denver or if he'll consider other NHL options.
