Report: Redskins entertaining options for new GM
Scot McCloughan remains the Washington Redskins general manager in title, but he's reportedly away from the team as free agency begins.
It's unclear why McCloughan is not involved in the football operations of the Redskins, but it's apparent something changed in the recent past to leave him on the outs.
The Redskins have gone as far as entertaining new options for the general manager job, according to CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora, who cites numerous league sources.
One name linked to the team is former Tampa Bay Buccaneers general manager Mark Dominik, though La Canfora expresses his skepticism that the Redskins will proceed in that direction. Dominik is currently an analyst for ESPN.
La Canfora also speculates that in-house candidate Alex Santos could be seen as a replacement for McCloughan.
It doesn't appear a move is likely before the draft, but a Redskins team that has suffered through years of dysfunction in recent decades appears headed for another offseason full of turmoil.
