Philadelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederson has tired of the questions about Carson Wentz's Week 1 availability, but someone else close to the situation is providing an answer of their own.

The man who performed the surgery on Wentz's torn ACL, Dr. James Bradley, advises the Eagles to exercise patience when it comes to the recovery of their franchise quarterback.

"It should be a cautious approach," Bradley said to NBC Sports Philadelphia's John Clark. "What's a few games over 12 to 15 years?"

Though Wentz has participated in full-team drills, he has yet to be cleared for contact. As a result, Pederson hasn't settled on a starter for Thursday's season opener against the Atlanta Falcons.

Bradley believes Wentz is ahead of schedule in his rehab but added that the longer the wait before his return to action, the less likely he is to get hurt again.

Pederson said he would consult with medical staff before making a determination on Wentz.
