Brock Osweiler retires from NFL after 7 seasons
Veteran quarterback Brock Osweiler is retiring from the NFL after seven seasons and at the age of 28.
"I'm extremely grateful for the time I did receive playing in the National Football League," Osweiler told Mike Klis of 9News. "The experiences I did have, people I did meet, relationships I did make - I'm not going to dwell on the things that didn't happen in my career.
"Being a kid from Kalispell, Montana, playing for the Denver Broncos, winning a Super Bowl, having the opportunity to sign a second contract - when you look back on it, I couldn't be more appreciative. It was great."
Osweiler last played for the Miami Dolphins in 2018. He entered the league as a second-round pick of the Denver Broncos in 2012 and spent the first four seasons of his career in the Mile High City, mainly as a backup to Peyton Manning.
Famously, Osweiler left the Broncos in 2016 for a four-year, $72-million contract with the Houston Texans, where he flamed out almost instantly. He was traded one year later to the Cleveland Browns but was released at the end of the preseason.
Osweiler, who left the Broncos on poor terms, returned to Denver on a one-year contract in 2017 following his release from the Browns. He wound up making four starts that season.
The Arizona State product finished his career with 7,418 passing yards, 37 touchdowns, and 31 interceptions.
