Report: Chiefs to exercise 5th-year options on McDuffie, Karlaftis
The Kansas City Chiefs plan to pick up the fifth-year options of cornerback Trent McDuffie and pass-rusher George Karlaftis, sources told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.
Exercising their options keeps both players under contract through the 2026 campaign.
McDuffie's option is projected to be worth $13.6 million while Karlaftis' option is set to be worth a little less than $15.2 million, according to Over The Cap.
First-round picks in 2022, McDuffie and Karlaftis have become key pieces of a strong Chiefs defense. The pass-rusher led the team with eight sacks last season while his 10.5 sacks in 2023 were also tied with Chris Jones for most on the club. Meanwhile, McDuffie collected two interceptions in 2024 while also earning a First-Team All-Pro nod the year before.
