Report: Slay trade unlikely with Lions' asking price 'incredibly high'
A number of top-tier cornerbacks are expected to be available ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline, but Darius Slay doesn't appear to be one of them.
The Detroit Lions' asking price for the Pro Bowl defender remains "incredibly high," according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, who added that it makes a deal unlikely.
The Philadelphia Eagles have been linked to Slay in recent days as they attempt to bolster their secondary. However, Garafolo reported that since Eagles general manager Howie Roseman was unwilling to match the Jacksonville Jaguars' asking price for star cornerback Jalen Ramsey, he's also unlikely to meet Detroit's demands.
Last week, Slay voiced his displeasure with Detroit's trade of safety Quandre Diggs to the Seattle Seahawks while criticizing the NFL as a whole for its lack of loyalty to players. The two-time Pro Bowler added that he "wouldn't personally care" if he is also dealt before the deadline.
The 28-year-old Slay has suited up for five contests in 2019, hauling in one interception. He's one of Detroit's top defensive players and earned an All-Pro nod in 2017.
