Report: Texans expected to hire Pep Hamilton as QBs coach
The Houston Texans are expected to hire former Los Angeles Chargers quarterbacks coach Pep Hamilton in the same capacity, a source told Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
Hamilton joined the Chargers ahead of the 2020 season and oversaw Justin Herbert's development as a rookie. The 46-year-old had a brief stint as a head coach in the XFL last year and has worked for multiple NFL teams, including the Indianapolis Colts, for whom he was the offensive coordinator from 2013-15.
Hamilton is set to join David Culley's new coaching staff after the Texans reportedly hired Culley as their new head coach Wednesday.
The Texans are also reportedly targeting veteran quarterback Josh McCown and former NFL and college head coach Lovie Smith for their sideline.
Houston's new coaching staff doesn't yet know who will be playing quarterback for the team in 2021, as star signal-caller Deshaun Watson has reportedly requested a trade.
