Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love will not attend practice until he has agreed to terms on a new contract, general manager Brian Gutekunst said Monday, per The Athletic's Matt Schneidman.

Gutekunst acknowledged that big deals take time, but he's optimistic that an extension for Love could be reached in the coming days.

"I feel we're close," Gutekunst said.

Love reported to training camp and is participating in team meetings.

The 2020 first-round pick enjoyed a breakout campaign in 2023, his first season as Packers starter following Aaron Rodgers' departure. Love passed for 4,159 yards, 32 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions with a 64.2% completion rate. He also rushed for 247 yards and another four scores.

After finding his stride in the second half of last season, Love led Green Bay to a playoff berth and was integral in the team’s wild-card round win over the Dallas Cowboys.

The star quarterback is expected to command a raise ahead of the 2024 campaign. He’s currently slated to make $10.5 million in 2024 but is projected to receive a salary with an annual average value of $50 million, similar to deals signed by Jared Goff and Trevor Lawrence this offseason.

Love is entering the final year of his current deal after agreeing to a one-year extension with the Packers in May 2023.
