New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara has reported to training camp after leaving minicamp early due to a contract dispute, per Nick Underhill of neworleans.football.

The Saints and Kamara have been in talks regarding an extension. However, it "doesn't sound like there has been any progress" on a new deal, according to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.

Kamara has two years remaining on a five-year, $75-million contract he signed in 2020. The 28-year-old is scheduled to have a $22-million base salary in 2025, but his deal was structured so the team can save significant money if the Saints release him after this campaign, according to Over The Cap.

The Tennessee product's $15-million average annual salary makes him the second-highest-paid running back in the NFL behind San Francisco's Christian McCaffrey.

Kamara has been with the Saints since they selected him in the third round of the 2017 draft. He had a career-low 1,160 yards from scrimmage in 2023 and has failed to average over 4.1 yards per carry in each of the last three seasons.
