The Pittsburgh Steelers can't catch a break.

Running back Jaylen Warren is expected to miss multiple weeks after sustaining a hamstring injury during Saturday's preseason game against the Buffalo Bills, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported Sunday, according to Grant Gordon of NFL.com.

Warren's status for Week 1 is reportedly uncertain. The Steelers kick off their regular season against the Atlanta Falcons on Sept. 8.

Warren is coming off a strong 2023 season, as he rushed for 784 yards (5.3 per carry) and compiled 1,154 scrimmage yards despite being behind Najee Harris on the depth chart and not starting any games. The 25-year-old also scored four touchdowns.

An undrafted rookie in 2022, Warren flashed his potential in his first NFL campaign, averaging 4.9 yards on 77 rushing attempts. If Warren misses the start of the regular season, Cordarrelle Patterson could receive more snaps behind Harris. The versatile Patterson - one of the NFL's most dangerous return specialists of all time - signed with Pittsburgh in March after serving as the Atlanta Falcons' running back over the last three seasons.

Injuries have been an issue for the Steelers ahead of the regular season. In addition to Warren, quarterback Russell Wilson missed time at training camp with a calf ailment, starting center Nate Herbig is out indefinitely with a torn rotator cuff, and first-round offensive tackle Troy Fautanu is currently dealing with a knee injury.
