Packers' LaFleur: Door 'pretty open' for Love to play Week 2

Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur isn't ready to rule out quarterback Jordan Love for the team's Week 2 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts.

LaFleur said Love could potentially be available to play a week after he sustained an MCL sprain.

"I'd say it's pretty open," LaFleur said Wednesday, according to Matt Schneidman of The Athletic. "But at the same time, he's gotta be cleared."

Initial reports suggested that Love could miss three-to-four weeks, but LaFleur said Green Bay didn't plan to place the star passer on injured reserve. The head coach also said Monday that Malik Willis will start for the Packers under center until Love is cleared.

Green Bay traded for Willis before Week 1 after he spent two unimpressive seasons with the Tennessee Titans.

Love hurt his knee in the final minute of last week's loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Brazil. The 25-year-old put on a show during his first year as Green Bay's starter in 2023, passing for over 4,000 yards and accounting for 36 total touchdowns.

The Packers also roster practice squad quarterback Sean Clifford, who took some first-team snaps Wednesday in a rotation with Willis, notes Ryan Wood of USA Today.
