Dallas Cowboys star cornerback DaRon Bland will undergo surgery for a stress fracture in his foot and is expected to miss six-to-eight weeks, the team announced Saturday, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

Bland reported foot soreness during the Cowboys' final practice of training camp Wednesday, according to ESPN's Todd Archer.

The 25-year-old is coming off a breakout year in 2023. Bland had a league-leading nine interceptions, and he set a new NFL record with five pick-6s. He also recorded five interceptions in his 2022 rookie season, tying for fifth most in the league.

Bland's injury is a blow to a Cowboys secondary that's getting All-Pro cornerback Trevon Diggs back from injury. Diggs played just two games last season before tearing his ACL in practice.

Diggs and Bland would've given Dallas arguably the most opportunistic cornerback duo in the NFL. They rank first and second in most interceptions since 2021 despite Diggs missing time due to injury and Bland's NFL career only beginning in 2022.

Most interceptions since 2021:

Player Interceptions Games Played
Trevon Diggs 15 35
DaRon Bland 14 34
Rasul Douglas 14 45
Justin Simmons 14 44

The Cowboys' defense allowed only 18.5 points per game last season, the fifth-best mark in the league.
