Jahan Dotson admitted that the trade that sent him from the Washington Commanders to the Philadelphia Eagles caught him off guard this week.

"It was a shock," Dotson said Saturday in his introductory press conference with the Eagles, per NBC Sports. "Just because all I know in the NFL is the Washington Commanders. But, at the end of the day, it's a business, and I understand that. Very much so."

The Commanders traded Dotson - the 16th overall pick in 2022 - to the Eagles on Thursday in exchange for a third-round pick and two seventh-round selections.

Dotson being traded before his third NFL season to a division rival was unexpected, as he topped 500 receiving yards in each of his first two pro campaigns while scoring a combined 11 total touchdowns.

"I talked to (Commanders) coach Dan Quinn and (general manager) Mr. Adam Peters, and they told me they think very highly of me," Dotson added. "It was kind of just something that happens. These things happen all the time in the NFL ... I'm not going to take it personal until I see Washington."

In Philly, Dotson is projected to be the Eagles' WR3 behind A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith.

"It's exciting ... I can't wait to put on the Black and Green," he said.

The Eagles host the Commanders in Week 11 this season. Their second matchup of the campaign will take place in Week 16.
