The Arizona Cardinals are signing quarterback Desmond Ridder to their practice squad, a source told Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

Ridder battled Clayton Tune for the Cardinals' backup signal-caller job during the preseason before being released Tuesday. Arizona drafted Tune in the fifth round in 2023.

The Cardinals traded Rondale Moore to the Atlanta Falcons for Ridder in March. Ridder suited up in all three of Arizona's preseason games, completing 20 of 35 passes for 225 yards and zero touchdowns.

The 24-year-old was forced out of Sunday's contest and placed in concussion protocol after taking a hit from Broncos linebacker Dondrea Tillman.

Ridder started 13 contests for the Falcons last season, going 6-7 with 17 touchdowns and 19 turnovers.

Atlanta selected Ridder in the third round of the 2022 draft.
