Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson was limited in Thursday's practice due to calf tightness, head coach Mike Tomlin said, according to ESPN's Brooke Pryor.

Tomlin said there's no concern that Wilson's injury will be a long-term issue, but that he will be evaluated to be cautious, per Pryor. The tightness is impacting the same calf that forced Wilson to miss time in camp, Pryor adds.

Wilson eventually returned to practice and threw for 73 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions in limited preseason action.

The 35-year-old is slated to start Week 1 on the road against the Atlanta Falcons, pending the injury. Fellow offseason acquisition Justin Fields is expected to start if Wilson is unable to play.

Wilson joined the Steelers during the offseason after two underwhelming seasons with the Denver Broncos. The 2012 third-rounder completed 63.3% of his passes for 6,594 yards, 42 touchdowns, and 19 interceptions in 30 games as the Broncos' starter.
