Panthers quarterback Bryce Young is "open to anything" regarding staying with Carolina or being traded, a source told ESPN's David Newton.

Young - the 2023 No. 1 overall pick - was benched Monday after a Week 2 loss that dropped his NFL record to 2-16 as a starter. The 23-year-old was initially mad about the decision made by head coach Dave Canales, a source told Newton.

Young was also "very shocked" at the Panthers' decision to bench him ahead of Week 3 in favor of veteran Andy Dalton, sources told NFL insider Jordan Schultz earlier this week.

Canales said Wednesday that the team isn't looking to trade its second-year quarterback. Young also addressed his benching Thursday, saying he remains confident in himself.

The former Alabama star completed just 55.4% of his passes with no touchdowns and three interceptions through this season's first two games. The 0-2 Panthers were outscored 73-13 in those matchups. The disappointing start to the 2024 campaign follows a rookie season in which Young had only 11 TD passes to 10 interceptions.

Carolina - which has won just one of its last 12 games dating back to 2023 - will visit the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 3.
