Barring any setbacks from his concussion recovery, the Miami Dolphins are hoping quarterback Tua Tagovailoa can return to the lineup for Week 8's contest against the Arizona Cardinals, according to The Athletic's Diana Russini.

Tagovailoa has been sidelined since Week 2, suffering his third concussion in the last two seasons and fourth since 2019.

The 26-year-old isn't dealing with any lingering issues and would play in Week 7 against the Indianapolis Colts if he could, per Russini. Tyler Huntley is in line to start his third game for Miami on Sunday as Tagovailoa misses his fourth mandatory contest after being placed on injured reserve.

The NFL said last week that it would defer to independent doctors and the Dolphins' medical staff and wouldn't prevent Tagovailoa from returning to the field, Russini adds.

Tagovailoa completed 64.5% of his passes for 483 yards, two touchdowns, and three interceptions in his two starts this season. His 13,122 yards and 83 career touchdown passes both rank fourth in Dolphins history.
