Morris: Falcons haven't 'gotten what we want' from Judon
Raheem Morris and the Atlanta Falcons have been underwhelmed by Matthew Judon's production this season.
"I can't sit here and tell you that we've gotten what we want out of him. That would be an absolute lie, and I won't do that," Morris said Wednesday. "But I can't tell you that he hasn't gotten what he wants out of himself."
The Falcons coach added: "To be quite honest, we're looking for more."
Judon, 32, was acquired from the New England Patriots in August. The veteran pass-rusher was seeking a fresh start after missing all but four games last season in New England due to a torn biceps. He'd recorded 28 sacks combined between 2021 and 2022 prior to the injury.
Judon was expected to provide consistent production for a Falcons defensive front that saw Calais Campbell and Bud Dupree depart last offseason. However, the impending free agent has struggled to find his stride with Atlanta.
Judon leads the team with just 2.5 sacks in 11 games. He also only has three tackles for loss. Overall, the Falcons are allowing the seventh-most passing yards (229.9) and have recorded the fewest sacks (10) in the league through 12 weeks.
Judon snapped an eight-game drought without a sack in Atlanta's loss to the Denver Broncos earlier this month. Morris expects the defensive stalwart to increase his production with six games left in the regular season.
"You've got to fight through some stuff, you've got to find a way," Morris said. "We've got six games that's guaranteed on our schedule. I look forward to him really helping us out down the stretch and really being a contributing factor."
He added: "I believe that he's still got it in there."
The Falcons will host the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.
