New York Giants defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence is expected to be out "long term" after dislocating his elbow during a 27-20 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday, head coach Brian Daboll said Friday, according to team reporter Dan Salomone.
Lawrence is expected to miss the remainder of the season, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport adds.
Lawrence, who left the game prematurely due to the injury, was seen postgame with his elbow in a sling. The two-time Pro Bowler said he'll undergo further tests in the next few days to determine how much time he'll miss.
In addition to Lawrence's injury, tight end Theo Johnson is also potentially lost for the rest of the year with a foot injury, Daboll told reporters, including Salomone.
Lawrence recorded three tackles before exiting Thursday's game in the third quarter. He sustained the injury while trying to make a tackle.
Arguably the NFL's best defensive tackle, Lawrence has put on a show this season, registering 16 QB hits, eight tackles for loss, and nine sacks - the best single-season mark of his career.
The 27-year-old has appeared in 92 games since the Giants drafted him in the first round in 2019.
