Report: Jaguars' Lawrence to undergo season-ending shoulder surgery
Trevor Lawrence's 2024 season is over.
The Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback is expected to undergo surgery in the coming weeks to repair a significant AC joint injury in his left shoulder, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The 25-year-old is reportedly expected to make a full recovery in time for the 2025 season.
The Jaguars placed the star signal-caller on injured reserve Wednesday after he entered concussion protocol following Sunday's loss to the Houston Texans.
Lawrence went down after taking a hit to the head by Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair, who's been suspended three games as a result.
The 2-10 Jaguars are projected to have the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
The AFC South club is expected to turn to Mac Jones under center for Sunday's game against the Tennessee Titans. The club also rosters C.J. Beathard.
The 2024 season was Lawrence's worst statistical campaign since he was a rookie: He completed just 60.6% of his passes for 2,045 yards and 11 touchdowns against seven interceptions in 10 appearances. The 2021 first overall pick missed two matchups this year with a shoulder injury.
Jacksonville could make significant changes for 2025, as head coach Doug Pederson and offensive coordinator Press Taylor enter the final stretch of the 2024 campaign on the hot seat. The Jaguars rank 25th in scoring this year, down from 13th in 2023.
