Report: Chiefs plan to activate Brown vs. Texans
The Kansas City Chiefs are planning to have Marquise "Hollywood" Brown available for Saturday's game against the Houston Texans, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports.
Brown is expected to be activated off injured reserve before the matchup barring a setback, Fowler adds. The speedy wide receiver has missed the entire regular season up to this point due to an SC joint sprain that required surgery.
The 27-year-old saw his 21-day practice window opened last week.
Brown's return will be a big boost for the Chiefs' offense, which has lacked explosiveness this season. The unit ranks 13th in passing yards per game and is tied for 22nd in passing yards per attempt.
Two of the team's top three pass-catchers are tight ends in Travis Kelce (709 yards) and Noah Gray (420). Rookie Xavier Worthy (494) leads all wideouts. In-season trade acquisition DeAndre Hopkins is fourth with 393 yards in eight games with the franchise.
Brown has racked up 3,644 receiving yards on 313 catches over his five-year career.
The Chiefs can clinch a first-round bye with a win against the Texans plus a Buffalo Bills loss or tie.
