Eagles' Hurts ruled out vs. Cowboys; Pickett to start
The Philadelphia Eagles won't have Jalen Hurts for Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys, as the quarterback is ruled out due to a concussion.
Hurts entered the concussion protocol in the first half of last week's loss to the Washington Commanders. The veteran passer was replaced by Kenny Pickett, who will make his first start with the Eagles versus the Cowboys.
Hurts, who didn't practice this week, was also listed with a left finger issue on Friday's injury report.
The 26-year-old started Philly's first 15 games this year, completing 68.7% of his passes for 2,903 yards and 18 touchdowns against five interceptions. He also scored 14 rushing TDs.
Pickett joined Philadelphia as part of an offseason trade from the Pittsburgh Steelers. He started 24 games in two seasons with the Steelers, and he completed 14 of 24 pass attempts with 143 yards and one TD to one interception in his relief appearance against Washington.
The 12-3 Eagles have already booked a playoff spot and will officially clinch the NFC East title with a win Sunday. Philly is currently the 2-seed in the NFC and is still mathematically alive in the race for the conference's No. 1 seed, which currently belongs to the 13-2 Detroit Lions.
