Herbert passes Peyton for most passing yards in 1st 5 seasons
Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert broke Peyton Manning's NFL record for most passing yards over a player's first five seasons.
Herbert entered Saturday's game against the New England Patriots needing 153 yards to pass Manning's mark of 20,618 through five seasons. He surpassed the Hall of Famer in the second quarter on a 7-yard pass to J.K. Dobbins.
The Chargers quarterback finished the 40-7 rout over New England with 281 yards, giving him 20,747 passing yards over his five-year career.

Herbert also became only the third quarterback in NFL history with at least 20 touchdown passes and 3,000 passing yards in their first five seasons. The signal-caller hit the 20-touchdown mark with first-half scores to Derius Davis and Ladd McConkey. He added one more touchdown in the second half.
Los Angeles clinched a playoff spot with the win over the Patriots. It'll be Herbert's second playoff appearance in five seasons.
