The Chicago Bears are scheduled to interview former NFL running back and current Tennessee State coach Eddie George for their vacant head coaching job, Fox Sports' Jay Glazer reports.
George has been Tennessee State's head coach since 2021. He was named Big South–OVC Coach of the Year for the 2024 campaign after posting a 9-4 record. George has compiled a 24-22 record with Tennessee State.
The 51-year-old was a first-round pick of the then-Houston Oilers in 1996 and produced a decorative career. George eclipsed 1,000 rushing yards in seven of his nine NFL seasons. He ended his playing career with 10,441 yards and 68 touchdowns on the ground.
Chicago has interviewed numerous candidates for its head coaching job, including Mike McCarthy, Ben Johnson, and Pete Carroll.
